Methods for Verifying the Balance on the California EBT Card

Are you looking for a way to check the balance on your California EBT Card? This post describes the different methods you can use to verify your California EBT card balance. In the US state of California, the benefits are passed on to SNAP receivers via a plastic EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) card. This enables low-income families to purchase nutritious groceries with their monthly food aid benefits. The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is responsible for administering the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or the Food Stamp Program.

The California EBT card, also known as the Golden State Advantage Card, includes the monthly food aid benefits assigned to you. The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) pays the benefits to your EBT card according to the following schedule:

Californian EBT Card Balance Verification Ways

Below are various options that you can use to successfully verify the balance on your Golden State Advantage Card balance.

1. Check your last transaction receipt

The first way to check your California EBT Card balance is to look at your most recent receipt. This is the easiest and fastest way to see the current balance on your California EBT Card.

You will see your balance listed at the bottom of your recent grocery store or on an ATM receipt. Make sure to keep your latest EBT receipt if you want to quickly find out or check your balance before shopping.

2. Check by phone

Another means of checking your California EBT Card balance is by making a phone call. Simply dial your phone and call the EBT customer service number (1-877-328-9677) on the back of your card. Once you call, you will need to provide your sixteen (16) digit EBT card number to hear your current food aid or bank balance. Note that the customer service line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

3. Log in to the Advantage Card Account

All you have to do is visit the ebt.ca.gov login page and then enter your card number. Once logged in, you can view your current balance and transaction history. In the situation in which you do not have an ebtEDGE account, you can now create a benefit card account.

NOTE: If your card is lost, stolen, or damaged, call EBT Customer Service immediately at 1-877-328-9677.

Your county or state will never call you via SMS or phone call to request your personal information such as your EBT card number and your personal identification number (PIN).

If you are contacted about your EBT account, you should not provide any personal information. If you believe your benefits have been stolen, you should immediately call the customer service phone number on the back of your EBT card (877) 328-9677 or contact your county welfare office.
